ABOUT THE GARDEN
Located within the Washington Park Arboretum, this is a 3 1/2 acre formal garden designed and constructed under the supervision of world-renowned Japanese garden designer Juki Iida in 1960.
Adults 18-64: $6
Youths 6–17, Senior Adults 65+, College students with ID, & Disabled: $4
Children 0-5: FREE
Admission restrictions: In order to preserve the unique nature of this garden, and ensure access for all, we do not allow picnicking, weddings, tripods, or pets.

Admission rates for normal garden operations are established by the Seattle City Council. The Japanese Garden Advisory Council hosts three annual special events with enhanced admission for fund-raising purposes where Annual passes are not applicable: First Viewing, Children’s Day and Moon Viewing.
The Japanese Garden will offer public tours on the weekends at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m., starting in April.
Tours are led by Arboretum Unit 86 Docents and provide an educational introduction to the culture and history of the garden. The content of these tours varies according to expertise of the guide, the interest, and size of the group.
Private and School Group Tours: Available upon request with advance notice and payment of guide reservation fee. Contact the ticket booth for details.
PHOTOGRAPHER MEMBERSHIP TO THE GARDEN
We are excited to announce a new membership category, which will replace all Photo Sessions. Photographer memberships are $75 per person.
Benefits of a Photographer Membership include:
- One year’s admission to the Garden (without tripods) during Garden operating hours.
- Photographers can sign up for photo member sessions hosted on first Saturdays and third Thursdays from March through November. Sessions will be held from 8-10 a.m. (before operational hours) on the following dates: April 7 and 19; May 5 and 17; June 2 and 21; July 7 and 19; August 4 and 16; September 1 and 20; October 6 and 18; November 3.

TATEUCHI COMMUNITY ROOM RENTALS
The Seattle Japanese Garden has a small meeting room available to rent on site with a capacity of 49 people. Rental fees are as follows: $25 non-refundable booking fee; $250 refundable deposit; $35 per hour rental fee with a two-hour minimum; $25 per hour facility monitor. Sorry, we are unable to rent the garden grounds for private events.
