Northgate Festival — 5th Annual
Northgate Festival 2010
The annual Northgate Festival, which features a new location for 2010, will be closing a portion of 103rd between Northgate Mall and the new Thornton Place for a street fair that will continue up into the plaza at Thornton Place.
The festival will take place on Saturday, September 11, after all the summer festivals have finished, but while the weather is still great in the Pacific Northwest.
Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy live main stage entertainment (we actually encourage some impromtu dancing on the plaza). Jazz, rock ‘n’roll, country and more will be featured throughout the day. These are local professionals who know how to get a crowd clapping and moving. For those who like to shop, an eclectic array of local artisans will have booths featuring handmade items and fine art for sale. Our business community will be on hand with commercial booths and a special area is being set aside for the nonprofit organizations in our community. A children’s plaza promises bouncy toys, cotton candy and a Community Stage. This Community Stage is geared for family entertainment with a local flair and will feature dance schools, karate demonstrations, roller skating marvels, lot’s of drummers, and children’s acts. To top it off their will be a classic Ford Mustang car show.
A special feature this year will be the Northwest Hospital and Medical Center Health Fair. This wonderful community health resource and facility, which celebrated their 50th birthday at last year’s festival, has something new to celebrate as UW Medicine: Northwest Hospital & Medical center. Not only will their be access to great health and fitness information, but also the opportunity to learn.!
As always the festival will be producing a program that will describe in detail all the activities and entertainment schedule. These programs will arrive in your September Journal and will be available at the festival. A downloadable pdf version will appear on this Web site the first part of September. In the meantime you can take a look at last year’s program to get a feel for the event.
The Northgate Chamber is proud to host this event with our title sponsor UW Medicine: Northwest Hospital and Medical Center. As a community we are home to Northgate Mall, North Seattle Community College and UW Medicine: Northwest Hospital and Medical Center, as well as one of the newest developments —— Thornton Place — with its mix of restaurants, retail, residents and parks. Northgate includes Haller Lake, Licton Springs, Maple Leaf, Victory Heights, and the Pinehurst neighborhoods. Both a very busy Aurora Avenue and I-5 (with over 250,000 cars a day) past through the heart of Northgate.
The Northgate Festival celebrates all these assets along with the business community and organizations that serve the families that call this area home. Every year this event brings visitors from other areas to the Festival to discover all the great things Northgate has to offer.
