Queen Anne Science Café: Why Do We Need a Malaria Vaccine

Tuesday, June 7 at 7:30 p.m.

Speaker: Ashley Vaughan, Senior Scientist, Seattle BioMed

The emergence of drug-resistant parasites and insecticide-resistant mosquitoes together with a neglect of control has allowed malaria to go on a rampage infecting an estimated 300-500 million people a year, mostly in sub-Saharan Africa. To truly eradicate this devastating disease, many believe a vaccine is urgently needed. Come hear Ashley discuss the challenges and efforts the group he works in is taking to develop a malaria vaccine.

This event is free and open to all ages.
