|Modified Style is a non-profit organization that started in Seattle in 2008 by Jolene Stokesberry and Alice Avery. It is a fun, all ages, community oriented project involving recycling and fashion.
Participants will receive a bag of random scraps of recycled fabric. They have approximately 2 months to make a dress or garment out of it for a model that they choose.
The models will show the dress at the Transformed Fashion show in Seattle. There will be judges, and prizes awarded for different categories.
After the fashion show, the dresses will be sold in a silent auction to members of the audience and/or participants. There will also be raffle prizes, performances by three local song and/or dance troupes, and music by DJ El Goonie.
We will donate the profits from the event to FareStart, whose mission is to provide a community that transforms lives by empowering homeless and disadvantaged men, women, and families to achieve self-sufficiency through life skills, job training and employment in the food service industry.
