Free Dodge ball at Cal Anderson Park

 

A new website offers Seattle residents a chance to join in some casual team sports, get some exercise and maybe even meet a few new friends. Capitol Hill Sports lets members organize and post the time and location of friendly touch football and basketball matches, dodge ball competitions, laser tag contests all the other games kids play during school recess. Anyone is welcome to join the group and participate in the games that are held mostly in the evenings and on weekends.

The organization will be putting on a great area event in a few weeks with dodge ball over at Cal Anderson Park. Taking part in these games is completely free of charge and a great opportunity for Seattle adults to get out and take part in some recreational fun. The games are also COED, making for an excellent opportunity to meet new people as well. The games can get pretty intense and will be offered throughout March and the rest of spring over at Cal Anderson Park. They take place weekly on Fridays at 9pm within the tennis courts located at Cal Anderson.

 

Launched by Jacob Colker last October, capitolhillsports.com is part of Meet up, an online social networking community that allow s members within a particular geographical location to organize meetings and events around common interests. Colker’s interest is sports and physical activity for busy working people who want something more fun than working out in a gym or in your Seattle apartments and homes. The games are often a breath of fresh air as well, adding in some fun sports and some traditional ones as well.

 

On top of the upcoming free dodge ball outings, there are scheduled meet-ups for other sports such as touch football and ultimate Frisbee in the late winter and spring here in Seattle.  So far nearly 500 people have come out to the early meet-ups and games for Capitol Hill Sports. Hopefully as time goes on, the organization continues to grow and add more participants in the near future.
